about

The Harry Macintosh Project was a Alternative/Experimental punk band formed in Newbury, Berkshire, UK in early 2005. The band boasts a diverse array of influences which can undeniably be spotted in their music occasionally. They have been described as 'Camp Math-Core', 'Spazz-Core', 'New Wave Post-Hardcore' & 'Nu-Jazz', although the band are indifferent to labeling and welcome peoples expressions and descriptions of their music. The complete end result however, is always unmistakably The Harry Macintosh Project.

Resisting easy definition, The Harry Macintosh Project sit somewhere between alternative rock and experimental punk with overtones of jazz. There are echoes of The Blood Brothers, The Murder of Rosa Luxemburg, Faith No More, The Jesus Lizard, Cardiacs, At the Drive-In, Richard Hell & The Voidoids and The Harry Macintosh Project float in this musical milieu. They are a visceral live act who have toured the UK extensively building a devoted fan base. The Harry Macintosh Project's music works around tightly constructed songs defined by the locked-in interplay of guitars, bass, drums and vocals. The music hurtles and soars unpredictably through successive chord and tempo changes. Their intelligent and witty take on the mutable zeitgeist of this world in which we find ourselves is perfectly expressed through Jack's deranged vocal delivery; reminiscent of David Yow (The Jesus Lizard) and Chuck Mosley (Faith No More). All of which makes for a truly original band.

The band played extensively around southern England through 2005/06 and released the EP titled "Macrophage" in Autumn 2006. Enough material was written for a second EP however the band's activity dwindled in its final years resulting in them performing less frequently and writing little new material. This was largely due to differences in musical interest and busy schedules. The band effectively split in 2012 after playing a short set supporting Knifeworld. However they reformed a couple of years later with an additional guitarist and finally recorded and released "The Craneofacial Blues" EP in 2014. They continued to release new material in the form of another EP and a Mini-Album in 2015/16 respectively as well as a full-discography CD in 2019 before finally calling it a day in 2020.

This 7-track Mini-Album, recorded live at the Cellar Bar, Bracknell, 2008 was made available exclusively for free download via Made In The Meth Lab in January 2013.
